A companion breed that loves being part of the family and thrives on human attention. French Bulldogs were bred to remove some of the fighting nature of the classic Bulldog and develop a keener, more compassionate temperament.

Character//

Much is made of the Frenchies' clown like attitude and whilst they are a fantastically fun breed they're also intelligent and sensitive to the needs of their family, thriving on the companionship and a love of being included in everything. They will play with children and other pets happily if properly socialized although there are sometimes issues of dominance arising in males.

Size//

The Breed Standard for the French Bulldog does not specify an ideal height but does give a weight of 12.5kg for dogs and 11kg for bitches.

Health//

Breeds with compressed faces tend to suffer from a higher incidence of breathing issues. They are also prone to suffer from spinal conditions

Special Care//

Due to their short muzzles French Bulldogs have difficulty in keeping cool and regulating their temperature so care should be taken whilst exercising them in hot conditions. Their eyes, ears and any folds of skin should also be cleaned regularly to help prevent infection.

Remember! All breed profiles are general and every dog is an individual.
