A pastoral breed that was used in its native Finland as a herder of reindeer. The Finnish Lapphund is a Spitz type breed and in common with the type is nice and clean, free from so called 'doggy odour'.
Character//
Funny and intelligent, strong herding instinct is often present and will manifest itself as a protectiveness over its family making them excellent watch dogs.
Size//
The ideal size is around 49cm for dogs and 44cm for bitches.
Health//
A breed generally free from major hereditary diseases and conditions.
Special Care//
May require extra attention during warm summer months so as to avoid any risk of over-heating.
