An intelligent breed originally bred as a working dog. Dandie Dinmont Terriers are now included on the vulnerable native breed list by the Kennel Club due to their decreasing numbers and shrinking breeding stock.
Character//
Sociable, loyal and kind whilst also exhibiting classic terrier traits such as stubbornness and persistence. Early socialization is a must with this breed to adjust them to children and other animals.
Size//
Ideally the height should be 20-28cm at the withers. Weight is between 8-11kg.
Health//
In common with other 'long' breeds, the Dandie Dinmont is prone to spinal conditions.
Special Care//
Exercising and activities such as climbing stairs should be monitored closely during its early months. Excess weight will also affect their posture and could damage their back.
Remember! All breed profiles are general and every dog is an individual.
