The Curly-Coated Retriever was the gundog of choice in the UK in the 1800s. They are powerful swimmers and are thought to have been bred from Lesser Newfoundland dogs brought to the UK by cod fishermen.
Character//
Curly-Coats are outgoing, fun loving dogs that live to work. They are thinkers and will work out how to do things for themselves. This might mean you are left feeling confused as to how they learnt how to do something you didn't teach them!
Size//
The Curly-Coat is a large-sized dog standing 64-69 cm at the withers.
Health//
Hip Dysplasia does affect this breed, so potential purchasers are advised to check hip scores. The breed is also disposed towards entropion of the lower eyelids.
Special Care//
Curly-Coats don't moult heavily but owners will notice they do a little. The hair is not light enough to be airborne but tends to be easily vacuumed up as it clumps in little balls.Remember! All breed profiles are general and every dog is an individual.
