Character//

Puppies need to be socialized early on to avoid potential timidity. These dogs are extremely affectionate, playful and also extremely entertaining due to they're ability to perform tricks. They are sweet tempered and never vicious, would make an excellent companion dog as they adore human company.

Size//

The Breed Standard stipulates an ideal height in dogs of 28-33cm and bitches 23-30cm. Weight varies considerably, but should not be over 5.4 kg.

Health//

The breed tends to be allergic to lanolin and wool and can develop problems with their teeth. With the hairless variety the skin is exposed and skin conditions are common.

Special Care//

Special attention needs to be paid to the teeth, as they are prone to decay. Hairless dogs often lose some of their teeth in early adulthood. They should not be given bones as they often have an incomplete set of teeth. The hairless breed need to have oil rubbed into their skin on a regular basis to keep it supple and both varieties need to be protected with sunscreen. They also need to be protected from hot and cold weather.

Remember! All breed profiles are general and every dog is an individual.
