The Cesky terrier is a relatively new breed, originally bred for hunting they are now more commonly used as companions and in the show ring. Although a member of the terrier family they share few terrier characteristics. They are placid and don't tend to be overly aggressive. They enjoy company of people and other animals but do need socialisation from a young age or they can be rather timid.

Character//

A good-natured breed, affectionate to all and comfortable around children. They can be uncomfortable around strangers so socialization is important, both with other people, animals and pets. They can happily live with other animals and dogs and prefer company to being kept alone. They are not aggressive and are usually obedient and easy to train.

Size//

Cesky terriers stand at between 28-34cm for bitches and up to 36cm for a dog and weight in at around 7 - 9 kg.

Health//

Few health problems have been encountered so far with the breed. Some owners have encountered Scotty cramp (causing 'bunny hopping' in trot) but this is still not common.

Special Care//

No special care as such is needed, although regular attention to the coat is recommended in order to avoid any discomfort to the dog.

Remember! All breed profiles are general and every dog is an individual.
