Originally bred from crossing a Bulldog with an English Terrier, the Bull Terrier is an enthusiastic dog although they can be prone to bouts of stubbornness if they are unwilling to carry out an activity. The miniature variety of the breed does not vary from the standard in any area apart from size.
Character//
Bull Terriers are friendly and loyal, good with children and especially useful as guard and watchdogs as they are possessive and protective of their family. Easily trained
Size//
The dog should give "the impression of maximum substance for size of dog consistent with quality and sex." Height should not exceed 35.5cm for the miniature.
Health//
Generally healthy although apparently with a relatively high predisposition to deafness in white dogs. The Bull Terrier is also prone to allergies and skin problems.
Special Care//
Good socialization is required to develop a kind, easy-going persona; some males can exhibit aggressive dominant behaviour.
