Described as an "uncomplicated and genuine terrier", the Border Terrier was originally bred to keep up with mounted hunts with the role of following foxes down their holes and flushing out game.

Character//

A friendly little breed that is keen to please. Border Terriers are easily trained and providing adequate socialization occurs at a young age they will get on stormingly with children and other pets. They are active and filled with a sense of adventure that makes them an exciting little breed and coupled with their obedient character make excellent companions.

Size//

A small breed, weighing in at between 5-7kg and measuring 25-28cm.

Health//

Generally a hardy little breed, the Border Terrier will work through their problems so you need to keep a close eye on them. Common ailments include various heart defects and canine epilepsy. Despite that their average life expectancy is high at 13-14 years

Special Care//

Due to their active nature muscular and joint issues may arise so care should be taken during their early years to balance their exercise. They will require plenty of socialization as they can occasionally be quite shy and timid.
